Best Way to Reach More Women Customers This Holiday Season

by Sharon L. Hadden on October 3, 2017
Find me on:

The calendar may only say October, but the holidays will be here before you know it! Regardless of your industry, budget or company size, here are a few tips on the best way to reach more women customers, this holiday season.

1. Start Early

Online shopping has completely changed how women customers shop during the holidays. According to a recent study, 15% of women plan to start holiday shopping before September. Not only that, about half of internet users plan to start their holiday shopping by the end of October, according to a poll by Session M. You absolutely cannot delay your holiday marketing campaign until big milestones like Black Friday. If you do, you could be missing out on a great many shopping days this holiday season.

2. Offer the Right Deals, at the Right Time

Holiday marketing for small business often includes deep discounts for eager customers, and we won’t discourage you from that. After all, 43% of women surveyed said they look for sales and special deals. The key to your holiday marketing success is offering sales and deals at the right time. You wouldn’t want to show your hand too early in the season, and miss out on driving massive sales during milestones like Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. You also don’t want to wait too late in the season. Less than 10% of women plan to shop on Christmas Eve.

3. Keep Your Website Up to Date and Running Smoothly

Online shopping is the preferred method of shopping for many women. Reach more women customers this holiday season, by making sure your website is secure for purchases, and allows for a speedy checkout experience. If you hadn’t already guessed it, your website should also be mobile friendly, so shoppers can seamlessly continue their search from a tablet or cell phone.

4. Use the Right Keywords

Today’s customers are well researched. Impulse buys come few and far between, compared to the in-depth review of products, to find a perfect fit. Think about the phrases that your customers might be searching for, and use them in your product descriptions, throughout your website, in blog content, social media, etc. Keywords will help make it easier for customers to find your business online. Some of the top keywords for holiday marketing that you may want to consider include, Christmas gifts on a budget or category based keywords like beauty gift ideas for women.

5. Build Up Your Contact List

Your contact list is your secret weapon, when it comes to communicating your best deals of the year. Email marketing, or some form of one-to-one communication like text messaging should be the foundation of your holiday marketing plan. After all, contacts are no longer just an email address to send spam mail too—your contacts are now potential revenue. Use your contact list to share helpful content, encourage repeat purchases and keep customers informed of the best days to buy from you this holiday season. An infographic by Insights in Marketing reports that 73 percent of women enjoy getting emails with recommendations based on previous purchases. In the same regard, 43 percent of women look for sales and special deals.

Every customer is unique, therefore the best way to reach more women customers this holiday season is to stay true to their needs.
